Testing
Q. What is
Hair Mineral Tissue Analysis (HTMA)?
A.
Hair tissue mineral analysis is an analytical test which measures the
mineral content of hair. The hair sample is obtained by cutting the
first 1.5 inches of
growth closest to the scalp at the nape of the neck and is prepared in a
licensed laboratory through a series of chemical and digestive high
temperature
procedures. Highly sophisticated detection equipment is used to achieve
the most precise and accurate results.
Q. Why not just use blood, or urine?
A. Hair is the ideal tissue for testing and sampling. It can be cut
easily and painlessly and can be sent to the lab without special
handling requirements. Clinical results have shown that a properly
obtained sample can give an accurate indication of mineral status and
toxic metal accumulation following long term or even acute exposure.
Hair is used as one of the tissues of choice by the Environmental
Protection Agency when determining toxic metal exposure. A 1980 report
from the E.P.A. stated that hair can be effectively used for biological
monitoring of the most dangerous toxic metals. This report confirmed the
findings of other studies in North America and abroad, which concluded
that human hair may be a more appropriate tissue than blood or urine for
studying exposure to trace elements.
Q. Why test for trace minerals?
A. Trace minerals are required for important metabolic functions
necessary in essential life processes.
Having a Hair test performed is one of the best ways to detect toxic
metals stored within tissues. Many minerals have sympathetic and
parasympathetic relationships with other minerals, which can complicate
the challenges of designing the right plan to heal yourself of the
symptoms caused by these imbalances.
To be able to truly heal yourself of
chronic health symptoms, you need to be able to find the causes of them.
Q. How often can I get hair tests done?
A. Getting Hair analysis follow-up testing is an effective way of
charting your progress. This will help you to measure just how
effectively you have managed to reduce toxins and to make sure that
deficiencies have been brought up to normal levels.
Every three to four months is
sufficient to see how well your personal health plan is coming along.
Q. Which Laboratory do you use?
A. We use Trace Elements, one of the most respected and quality focused
laboratories in the US. Trace Elements has been performing hair analyses
since 1984 for doctors and other healthcare workers from all over the
world. The reports are thorough and easy to understand for health
professionals and patients alike.
Trace Elements emphasizes a wholistic approach to health-care and
stresses the importance of optimum nutrition and a metabolically
balanced approach to health and wellness.
Q. How accurate is hair analysis testing?
A. The key to a good hair analysis report is the abilities of an
established laboratory and the expertise of the practitioner
interpreting the results. The combination of our lab with almost 25
years of experience and the expertise of Keri Dennis N.C. will get you
the most accurate and actionable data from your hair tissue analysis.
Q. Is hair tissue mineral analysis (HTMA) supported by
medical research?
A. There is an impressive body of literature in a variety of respected
scientific publications that support hair tissue mineral analysis. In
fact, the validity of hair analysis testing increases each year as
federally licensed laboratories perform tens of thousands of hair
mineral analyses for doctors and health workers worldwide.
Q. Do I get to have a copy of my hair analysis test?
A. Your detailed report will be sent by email as it was prepared by the
lab. If you are ordering an interpretation and health plan, you will
also receive this at the same time.
Q. What steps do I take next after receiving my hair
tissue mineral analysis (HTMA)?
A. If you have ordered an interpretation and health plan based on your
results, you will also receive detoxification, nourishment, maintenance,
supplementation, dietary changes, pH information and a schedule of when
to take vitamin supplements to bring your body back to perfect health.
If you also ordered consultation support with Keri Dennis N.C., then you
will receive detailed feedback and guidance to implement the
recommendations in your report.
Be sure to
discuss your Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis with a qualified health professional that is familiar with
hair test data before you try to make dietary, nutritional or
supplemental changes to make sure that you
can make the best use of the information as it relates to your own personal health
plan.

Q. What causes heavy metal toxicity or mineral
deficiency?
A. There are many factors to take into consideration, such as:
-
Pollution. Cigarette smoke,
hair dyes, hydrogenated oils, dental fillings, cookware, industrial
pollution and more all contribute to our intake of toxic substances.
-
Stress. Emotional and
physical stress can deplete the body of many essential elements while reducing
the ability to utilize nutrients.
-
Drugs. Over the counter
medications and prescriptions can deplete the body of
minerals and increase the levels of toxicity in the body.
-
Diet. Improper diet, aspartame, MSG, refined
and processed foods and alcohol can all lead to a chemical imbalance.
-
Genetics. A predisposition
toward certain deficiencies and mineral imbalances can be obtained from
ones ancestry.
-
Nutritional Supplements. Improper amounts of supplements can produce many mineral excesses and
deficiencies.
Q. Who provides health program
support for the interpretation of the test data?
A. If ordered, Nutritional Consultant, Keri Dennis will review the
results from the laboratory and draw on their diverse backgrounds to get
you the most from your test data.
Her extensive knowledge and understanding of various causes of chronic
disease and the alternative approaches that restore health will get you
the best possible plan to a healthier and better you.
Q. Can I contact someone with any questions after I
receive my data?
A. Yes. Absolutely!

About Children and Autism, ADD and ADHD
Q.
What can I expect from the hair test mineral analysis for my child?
A. Your Hair Trace Mineral Analysis will provide you with information
for the possible sources for these toxins. If you are ordering the
interpretation and health plan support package, you will have a program to work
from to make dietary adjustments to help re-balance your child's health.
Q. How does a hair analysis help my child if he/she has
Autism, ADD or ADHD?
A. We believe as do many established research laboratories that our most
terrible modern diseases are caused by toxic elements within the human
body from our environment and our food.
The validity of research being done by many groups that study
developmental disorders have found very credible proof that toxins are
responsible for or at least worsen conditions like ADD, ADHD and Autism.
Removing the toxins and their sources will often help to lessen the
symptoms that are associated with development problems. Behavioral
issues will often improve once toxicity has been reduced and
deficiencies have been brought into balance.
Q.
Can I use this information with my own doctor?
A. Yes. However not all medical doctors have been properly trained in
nutrition and hair analysis interpretation.
If your doctor is not supportive of your desire to seek out natural
methods for bringing your child's health back into balance then you have
some choices to make. Your decision in who you have looking after your
child's medical care is up to you. So by all means, keep looking for a
medical doctor that will work with you as you look for answers.
Q. What's the best way to get toxicity out of my child?
A. You will need to make sure that you find out what has or is still
putting the toxicity into your child. This will require some detective
work on your part, but it's worth it as the sources that are poisoning
your child could also be poisoning you and the rest of your family.
Then, you will want to implement a detoxification program into your
child's daily lifestyle and dietary plan to remove chemical toxicities from your body.
